hi guys,

recently aquired a new loom for my 86 cabby. the loom that i am putting into it is from a 89 325i ( if i remember ).

i have probably bitten off more than I can chew but hey, what the hell thats how you learn eh ?

going to have my second day off in 3 months this week so have decided to crack on........ so before I carry on with it

a couple of little things .......

1. does this connect to this ?

Image

and also, what exactly should be connected to this .

Image

both disappear undearneath the car ( under the back seat) , one on the left , one on the right.

sorry if this is a silly question

cheers

Aled

the other thing that i think cabbys have is a hot air blower for the rear window (as a demister) but i've never owned a cab so am purely guessing!
the wiring is probably there for the electric hood, even on a manual hooded car.

ok. getting my head together slowly on this one !

is it possible that one of these ( the first pic ? ) is the wiring for the fuel pump?

the other for the fuel sender guage ??

Gareth... i am hoping to find wires on the new loom that would have been for the rear window demister on the original car and hook them up to the rear demister fan ( blower ) that is on the cabby. which ones, I dont know... process of elimination maybe !!

i believe the fuel pump and sender wiring do pass under the rear seat so it could be them.

sounds like a big job.... why are you swapping the loom? previous owner butchery?

yer what a mess, would have to 2nd willg from the linked thread, take your self off to your local crap yard with a digi and have a go one. The dash is easy to pull out even if not done one before not much longer than 1hr tops.

The other thing, that I would say is get hold of a laptop comp so when the time comes to replacing it all, you are able to down load the pics from the digi to the lap top and then take that to the car and have full size opics to look at, good luck

Hi aled, getting stuck in I see :D

The green/violet and brown wires are to the fuel pump, cant quite make out the colours of the other two though

The big white plug doesnt ring any bells either, I dont think it goes under the car though. Can you get a pic of where it branches off the loom?

hey, thanks guys!

yeah Dan, decided to get stuck in! so far so good

so......... next silly question...........
2 wires on right are for fuel pump

the two wires on the car ( leading underneath on the right. )

1.Green/Purple
2.Brown

are for the fuel pump.

so... I have two wires that look like they are in the right place from the replacment loom.

3. green / brown
4. green / brown

the brown ( 2 ) goes to earth?
the purple / green (1 ) goes to ........... one of the green / brown wires ? ( 3/4)

sorry to complicate things, but i wanna get it right.
