It has started :D

Image

project code name Exxon Valdez (after lowering it the wednesday morning before Santa Pod, 4 miles up the road hit a speed bump, holed the sump  bodged it up with liquid-metal not really working. The sump will be coming off soon for the turbo oil return so not that much of a pita :) )

Phaze 1 Mega Squirt Installed

Image

Went to Ant at ATech to collect Exxon with the help of Fowler( big thanks Ben BK's on me at guilford  ) and do several hours of mapping up and down and around kent with the Mega Squirt V3 he has installed.

Driving normally there doesn't seem much differance, but open her up it it screams and pulls strong, no flat spots right up to 6.5 k, it feels like 200+bhp! (400 with fowler driving).

Image

Now one of the other bonus's is ment to be better fuel economy, but the induction sound she makes is awesome no maf now and a cone filter std. exhaust & manifold @ 3K upwards full pedal  i dought i will find out.

Big thanks Ant.

Phaze 2 ?

Ah I would really like to see this MS setup before the next stage - especially after Ant's recommendation
Any chance for a fellow member of the touring drivers - please - ?

:D

Wish I could have made it to Guildford but too much work on.
Cheers

NOS Install,

This is meant to be a 75 hp one shot wet system, but falls quite shy of 75bhp although torque is not bad winkeye, the system is activated only on full throttle by a mirco switch on the throttle body only if the arming switch is armed. It took less than 2 hours to install.

Matt, I like the crazy new install. Proper Batman gadjets.

So it gives good torque? Is it smooth or a sudden woosh of power?

I didn't get to see it yet...
I'm going to Ant's all day Thursday next week - be great if you were around and I could see this new techno wizardry...
If not I'll see you at a meet...

Cheers

can't make guilford this time but maybe the next - the meets after through November seem pretty slim on the ground.
Keep posting how this car is to drive. Can the NOS be turned off just by flicking a switch (in case we get snow or something)?

It's running :D

After many months of delays due various reasons work, wife home DIY, motivation, money & the ffffffing down pipe i'm boosted.

I'm not a man of many words (except when it comes to spamming) here's some pic's along with a brife description.

I found the down pipe the hardest thing to do, lots tacking welding back & forth to my local pipe bender, it is 2.5" stainless joints were be tiged but gave up & all joints were migged in the end. A Y-peice was formed to mate to the standard exhaust system, this car is sooo quite

Image

Ants old turbo t3/4 hybrid mated to the BBR log,
the next fiddliest bit would have to be the oil drain to sump, and when you put sump back on and it leaks :x

Image

This is not the BOV i wanted to use but a cheapy that fitted the silicone t-piece. My PPF I got of WillG needed custom welded T-piece/charge pipe,
which will be done in stainless at a later date.

Intercooler sits a bit low, hit a bump 10feet from my house on it's first boosted run and clonked the bottom of it ripped a piece of metal off it  , any way it doesn't leak and it's a bit lighter winkeye

Image

More work to do but it pasted it's MOT and pulls real well :D

Hi guys,

It's been a while since I've had anything worth mentioning (if ever) about Exxon but here's where she's at.

Anyway Exxon spent the last couple of days with Ant at the A-Tech workshop & Surrey Rolling Road,

Ant fitted a set of 42lb injectors & added a wasted spark setup to the Megasquirt ECU.
Then we took it for a 3 or 4 short blasts for a bit of logging, mapping & BOOOST adjusting.

I was quite amazed how much power the car now has pulling smooth & very hard, but the clutch was not happy giving up the ghost at any WOT at 3.5k upwards, any way drove it home safe & sound, exploring the point were the clutch slips.

The next day I gave the car a quick clean & made my way to meeting point with the usual suspects & onto Surrey Rolling Road for a bit of fine tuning by Ant,

& here we go:-
