Am I the only guy having problems filling up with juice on my 320i 1989 4 door saloon?
It's so bad at Tesco, I often 'time out' the pump and have to start again. I know the tank is midships, so filler neck is long, but is there a breather somewhere which may be blocked?
Any more than about a trickle of fuel at a time and it coughs back out!!??

How do you mean? The pump clicks and stops you filling up? Even thought you can clearly get more fuel in?
Mine does that from time to time but i just take the pump most of the way out the funnel and just squirt fuel in!

There are breathers from the tank to the top of the filler neck, (they all run behind a metal plate inside the rear right wheel arch), but the only one that vents to outside runs under the car along side the two fuel lines and should end with a bit of rubber pipe pushed inside the reinforcing section of the front left suspension turret.

The filler neck tube to the tank can collapse on the e30 sometimes, and it can delaminate so it looks ok on the outside but is buggered inside

Give it good squeeze and see if it feels uneven along its length.

Cheers,
