Hi,

Really frustrated

I've just added to the collection with a 1990 325 touring  , It needs a new exhaust back box as the existing one has caramelised (better than rusted) :D . I've looked around at euro car prats website but they keep listing 'cat prepared' - well, I don't know how to tell, or what the difference is! I know there is no cat on it, and the front (of the two piece) is a twin pipe connection.

Is there a performance box available??? Is the saloon and coupe the same exhaust as the touring?

Does anyone know what the right part is? :D

Also,

Going to drop some new brakes and suspension in. Can anyone tell me what the best brake upgrade and suspension package is in their opinion for the touring? Trying to find bits for this is difficult. Is the touring and saloon/coupe suspension the same? I want to use the car for fast road but mostly track days and scaring the kids

Have tried the usual sources i.e demon tweeks. Can anyone recommend better sources for me please. I know there must be something better out there.

All the best, thanks for your time.

Yes, a 1990 325i Touring is "cat prepared".
E30 exhausts are the same for all body styles. The only differences are 2/3 piece and M10, M20, M40 or M42 engine. 2 and 3 piece systems are fully interchangable, providing you're changing the full system.

Wow.

Thanks for the quick replies guys. I take it to mean that two piece and three piece excludes the manifold :?:

Can anyone help with the brakes at all? what discs and pads. Different calipers?

Cheers, 8)

That's right. Oh, and re the springs, make sure you get Touring ones. 2 & 4 door ones will be far too soft on the rear. Convertible rears will do, but they may leave it slightly high, as the 'vert is heavier than the Touring.

Really, I guess all the roof mechanism and stuff really weighs heavy then? Would have thought the Touring would have been the pudgiest but I can see what you mean know.

You fellas really know your stuff,

325 Touring suspension is very good as it left the factory - far better than the equivalent saloon, although it may have deteriorated a little in the 16 years since it's been there.
If you want lowering springs, use cabriolet ones, not saloon ones.

A cat prepared system is basically a 2 piece system.
