6 button obc?

Am i right in thinking that the 6 button was only given in the face lift models? or were they about throught the e30 range

My car had one fitted in it from factory...1990 318iS, but my brother did not have one fitted to his...1991 318iS ?
I think it was a optional extra...

6 button OBC was standard fitment to 316i/318i lux models, and E30 M3, and optional on all other E30's, apart from those which were fitted with the 13 button (SE's) standard.
And yes, they were only available on facelift cars.
