I have two cars: a now runnaround 318is and a tidy 325i awaiting an S50 swap.
The fuel pump on the iS has now died and I need to get it running to get to work in. The 325i needs a better pump for the s50 so I got one from an M3Evo E36 to fit and hoped to fit the 325i one to the iS.
Will this work? The iS is a 1990 and the 325i a 1988.
What is the procedure? ie how do I swap the pumps? I know it's not beyond the wit of man to work it out but want to have an idea before I go pr!ck around with fuel in the hot weather...
Do I have to drop the tank for clearance? Are the relavent pipes jubilee clipped and not crimped?
Many thanks.

That should help sir.
Oh and I think all facelift E30 pumps are the same, so as long as the 325i is a facelift you should be ok. I realise its the other way round, but my 318i pump is happily running my 325i engine.

All facelift E30 pump assemblies are not the same, although the basic pump is, and can be swapped easily enough.
Fuel injected cars continuously pump fuel around in a circle from the tank to the fuel rail, and then the great majority of it back to the tank again. Some tanks have a spigot on them for this return fuel, while others have a second connection on the pump assembly.

Is the difference age related? Or is there no real way of telling which a car would have without looking - Ive only seen ones that look like the pump in my 325i Sport. Having said that, I havent looked at the 318i touring pump. Some tanks have a spigot on them for this return fuel, while others have a second connection on the pump assembly.

Thanks for the link guys.. Trés handy.
If I remember I'll have to get some new pipe and jubilee clips to fit the E36M3Evo pump to the 325i so I'll wait till I've had a chance to get to the motor factors.
Many thanks.
