The facelift 320i does have twin tailpipes.

I think the early ones have singles, but Ive also seen some with twins.

My '89 320iSE is twin-pipe from the manifold to the exit. I put a Powerflow stainless system (secondhand, eBay) on simply because I couldn't find an aftermarket supplier (Bosal etc.) and an OEM one was c. £400.

The early 320i has a single pipe system but the facelift 320i has a twin pipe system all the way through.

You could upgrade the whole system to the facelift type.

It'd cost a couple of hundred quid to get all the parts from GSF or eurocarprats.

Cheers,

Mine is a 1991 320i and it has twin pipes from the manifold back, fitted a 325i scorpion backbox, a bit tight but it did fit, sounds goooooood!!
