Have a 10" sub and amp that i never fitted to my last car and would like to put into the Touring, but i don't want to be able to see anything majorly obvious and i don't want to lose any of the boot space.

Figured i could mount the amp in the side pocket and run some small PC fans so it has a flow of air when on, but the only place i think the sub could go is the spare wheel area.
I don't want to ditch the spare so thought about flipping the spare over and making an enclosure for the sub.

I know it would be a pain when i have to change a wheel but i don't like using that tyreweld stuff.

Any thoughts? Do you think i'd get the volume req in the space i have?

Cheers
Matt :)

Not sure what volume box a 10" wants, but i would image inside the wheel would be a bit small!
What about mounting the sub in the other side pocket?? Must be able to build something there that will give a bigger volume than inside the wheel!!

Or if you only wanna lose one side pocket, build a sub enclosure into that and an amp would be much easier to hide!! Saw on a post the other day that someone had mounted amp's on the outside of the other side pocket which didn't intrude much!

See Kam326itouring post in this thread http://www.e30zone.co.uk/modules.php?na ... ic&t=42817

The sub in that install uses a bit of boot space, but i'm sure you could make it less intrusive by building it more into a side pocket!!
Amps look quite tidy there though!

Best place for subwoofers is up front! If you are willing to loose the glove box then an enclosure can be made here,

I dont think it'd be much of a problem if i ditched the spare completely, the space inside the spare wheel however only comes to 475 cubic inches, i need to get nearly 1400 (0.8 cubic feet) for my sub. Back to the drawing board!

Similar with the side rear pockets, i just cant get the volume required. Only thing i can think is build down into the spare so i get the depth to drop the sub, but also build up and around to get the required volume. Not easy!

Not giving up yet

You should easily be able to get 0.8 cubic foot out of your spare wheel well. We use to put aliante 12's in e30 spare wheel wells and they need just under a cubic foot!

f**k the law!!!!..... sub bass is more important :D

If you have a spare in your car then it has to have legal tread (as tested on an MOT).
No wheel no problem, no law against it.
Lots of modern cars have ditched thier spares. Some use run-shats, some use tyre foam - but that stuffs not a permanant repair and is only good for 50mph, then try taking the tyre to be repaired, its a bitch to clean off the rim/tyre

Spare wheel for me without doubt - just need to see what i can build :)

yo my box in my touring is about 1cuft i put some wadding in the box to make the sub think the volume is bigger, the sub drops nicely!!!!!!!!!

most 10s will run in a box small as .5cuft and most 12s .8cuft

i was gonna flush the sub in but not enough space!!!!

there should be enough space to make a box for a 10 in the spare wheel well. alot of fibre glassin!!!!!!!!! :(

oh yeah i done loads of installs and ditched the spare when i do false floors, pug 206cc doesnt come with spare!!! leagaly you dont need a spare, i think!!
