hi.. i have a 1988, 325 block with what am told is an alpina head... engine has done roughly 140k but no smoke etc and runs as sweet as a nut.
a few weeks ago i noticed the coolant level dropping rapidly and white sludge started to appear in oil... no other symptoms like high temp or white smoke etc.
the head gasket was changed but head was not checked or skimmed..now after 2 weeks the same problem has arisen..engine runs fine no high temp no smoke no leaks but coolant is goin quicker than the petrol!!

i have been told that it could be either the head or sometimes the inlet manifolds crack and let the coolant in??? has anyone ever heard of this and if so how can i check it etc?

can the heads be repaired?

please help as i am chompin at the bit to get back into my 18 year old flyer!!!
thanks for any help.

gareth
