Not that this is likely to be a whole lot of use but I thought I'd tell people what I've had to get done to my poor touring.

First the symptoms:

Poor idle when hot.
Hated low load/heavy traffic driving - any gear
Loved revs and full power
Would choke up in traffic and eventually flood itself
Hot restarts impossible - churn churn, blue/black smoke
Ran for 30 minutes max before starting to misfire under load, lose cylinders and then die in a cloud of smoke and swearing.

Not a pretty list!

So...
New Blue Temp Sender
Breakers ECU
New FPR (old one was 0.5 bar low, tested off the car)
Breaker's Fuel relay - the old one was the wrong part and wired into some weird homebrew timer circuit
Replaced/restored a lot of the loom - Crank sensor was bypassed for example.
New fuel senders x2 (the breaker had em so why not, didn't help tho)
Breakers Fuel Pump

dizzy cap and arm were only 6 months old so we left them on.

So, does it work? Well almost :) It didn't stall on the 45 minute drive home and it was given a serious test - gentle driving all the way home! I stopped to get more petrol and it started first time after I paid. However, the idle is unstable, and keeps bouncing up from 500 revs to 1k, slides back and bumps up again. The nasty bit is that everytime it splutters at 500revs it feels like its going to stall again and leave me blocking traffic for 15 minutes while it cools down!
Cold idle is a rock steady 900rpm

The only thing left is to replace the cam breather pipe which is sucking a bit of air and is probably not helping the idle, but at least the bloody thing doesn't strangle itself with flood of fuel now!

Ah well, I think we're making progress now and another E30 is chugging back into life :)

Praise the Lard... and pass the dripping!
