A/C clicks

My a/c needs regassing.. but till then, there's a click that comes from the heater core area(Im guessing the actual unit).

Does anyone know what this is? and why it's doing that?

Also is it just a regas that it needs?

it is unwise to run the system with no gas, and to leave it empty is also bad, the seals in the compressor will dry out and this will mean your re-gas will just leak out, and i belive re-gassing in uk is stupidly expensive.

the clicking most probably be the low pressure switch stopping the compressor clutch from engaging (which means you are lucky its working otherwise it would be a new compressor my laddie), but to be sure what sort of click : a constant one, every know and again,and is it only when A/C button is on? let me know more and may be able to help. in the mean time get it re-gassed, and find a place with a halon gas detector and have them test around the compressor and under the dash near the condensor.

if there are no leaks it is better to run your A/C system for at least 5 mins a week, irregardless of what time of year it is, this keeps the seals moist and prevents the gas leaking or simply evaporating.
