Only recently have I had a problem with my e30 318i. About a week or so ago I pushed it a bit giving a bit of high revs off this rounabout and up this staight known as 'the mad mile'.
Then the next day I take the car out, and go to pull out of a side road, and as i go to shift from 1st to 2nd, the car revs really hard! I am thinking what the hell is going on, and that I must of just tapped the accelorator by mistake. But then later on I have the car stopped on an incline at a set of lights and have it in neutral, and the same thing happens! Then It stays reving around 2000-2500. Even when I pull it back into my drive it seems to over-rev slightly. This has been ever since I may have went a bit heavy on the 'mad mile'.
Does anyone have any idea of what the problem may be?
Cheers, Dan

could be the idle speed control valve stuck in an open position mate?
