Just picked up a 325i and the colling fan doesnt appear to be working.
Anything you guys can suggest I look for and where to look for it please. Bare in mind having only opened the bonnet for 5 mins I have no idea what and where things are

Do you mean the fan isnt turning at all?
The fan is engine driven, so the fan will turn when the engine is running.
Stupid question, but is the alternator/fan belt fitted? If not, the fan will not run and the battery wont be charging either - red battery light on the dash.

When the engine is cold you can hold the fan while the engine is running, when it is hot it should be sollid and you wont be able to hold it.HTH
