if you mean this bit (nicked from the zone article):

then no, the one on my 325 tourer has equal length ends, not uneven like the one in the picture.

They are also different lengths depending on which gearbox is used.

318i will have a longer rod than 325i because the 318i gearbox is shorter.

I think the 318is selector rod is the same as a 316i so prob the same as a 318i. I might be wrong. The reason i say this is i am currently rebuilding my crashed 318is on a 316i shell. The rod on the IS snapped in the crash and i measured the two up and they seemed the exact same, as did the boxes apart from the output shaft sticking out about an inch more on the IS box than the 316i box, internally they are prob different (i have another thread on that subject).

As i say i could be wrong as it was a quick measurement as i am really up the shit trying to get back on the road. Love my IS.

The round section steel selector rod is the same for all these cars(1st pic), the "H" section ally selector is pic 2.

I'm from the west of Ireland where no one knows what an IS is. People just think it's an ordinary 318. I adored my car before i wrapped it. But a couple of weeks and it'll be completely re shelled. I'm almost fully qualified as a mechanic and the garage i work in is a bmw dealership. So parts are easy to check up on.
