The brake light switch located on the brake pedal has appeared to be busted. If i have the wires connected to the switch, the brake lights stay permantly on, so what i wanted to know for a quick fix till i can source one plus I cant remove the switch from the brake pedal, can you wire it some other way ie bypass the switch on the pedal and run those 2 wires to the brake pedal itself? Any suggestions appreciated guys!

Is it not just a case of the pedal isnt coming back enough to touch the switch? If so you may be able to adjust the pedal, if you cant adjust the pedal, you can either put a small self tapping screw in the switch to bring it out further or wrap electrical tape around the pedal to make the gap smaller.

I have a switch from the car im scrapping, if you want to pm me your addy ill send it to you to see if that helps (no charge).

Switch is only adjustable on earlier cars. I had to put a bulldog clip on the pedal of my old iS to make it work... so if you've got one lying around...

I had the same problem, brake light on all the time. You cannot adjust the switch position on the late model E30s. I adjusted the pedal position slightly at the pushrod clevis by adjusting the locknut position, and that fixed the problem for me.

As above. The pullrod has a normal thread on one end and a reverse thread on the other, so is adjustable in length. There may be a locknut on both ends.
Don't over adjust it, or the brakes won't come off properly.

Right finally got round to sorting the brake light switch, bought a new one from euro car parts and it works. After struggling removing the old one I went all out and got the hammer and bashed the little fucker out. SO for anyone having this problem, use a hammer to bash out the old one, then you can fit a brand new one.
