High miles and a chip upgrade?

I have recently picked up an 86 325e with 180+ miles (dead tachometer). The engine runs great and I was wondering if there is any reason to put a new ECU in it. I am really just looking for improved economy and such not really more horsepower. In the future I plan to rebuild the engine but not for several years. The body is immaculate and the interior looks like all 180k were put on with no one in the car. US model.
