Hi!

The E30 linkage is quite a bit shorter than the E34 one. They will fit on each other's gearboxes but will put the gear lever in the wrong place.
It is possible to cut and weld but they are aluminium so require TIG welding.

Rich you might be OK with a standard E30 325 linkage, I haven't modified mine but it has shifted the shifter back about 8-10mm, I can still select all gears without it fouling anything :D

Would this bloke happen to have a 535 middle box/downpipes he'd like to sell  if you wouldn't mind asking him I would be eternally grateful

Cheers dude

I had to shorten my E30 one. The bit of wood in the pic was replaced by 2 bits of metal either side which sit in the groves and was just bolted together.

Why shorten and have the possible problem of twist, when you could get the E36 item! winkeye
