hi everyone, just joined today. here's the thing, i fitted front fogs to my '90 318i using the existing plugs, i also changed the switch, fitted the dash bulb, fuses and relay but i cant turn the fogs off! they come on with the sidelights along with the dash light regardless of switch position. ive tried countless relays from the scrappy but its always the same, im sure its the corect ones im using. does anyone have any ideas whats wrong?

Pull the plug off the switch should check that one. I take it they go out when you pull the relay.

or you could take off the plugs from the rear of the foglamps and make sure there is a good conection, if they have not been used and just been dangling they might have some build up on them, if so just get a small screwdriver and give the inside's a good scraping.

its in the dash below the clocks next to where the rear fog light display is
you will have to take the dash out to do it....if you look at your rear fog lamp light at the bottom of the clocks you will see the front fog display next to the rear lamp one, its not that difficult to do and its a good time to replace any bulbs that have gone on the dash clocks.......the fogs will still work without it .....you just wont know when you have left them on

the relays ive been using are the 5 prong ones for the foglights from other e30's in the scrappy, i'll give the switch and light connectors a clean up, after all, they have been loitering about for 15 years! oh ive left the relay out to keep the lights off. cheers for the help guys, i'll let you's know how i get on
