Sunroof removal

apols if this has been posted before - I have a manual sunrrof which need sto be replaced because of bad rust. Im doing a conversion to electric so this give me a good excuse to replace it.

However my sunroof will only tilt and wont slide so how do i get the fecker out??

Tilt it, remove the interior fabric cover (it pops out). There are six torx bolts, simply unscrew them. Any DIY, tool, or motor shop should sell them if you don't have them.

I'd advise that you cavity wax and paint the underside of the new sunroof to save having to do this again. BMW never painted the undersides properly. This is also a fantastic time rod out, ala dynarod, your sunroof drain holes. They will be full of silt and rust for from your sunroof!
