Presume this is because some manufacturers top up bottle's don't get circulated.
Water in a 325 bottle does get circulated slowly, so it should be OK in there.

I tried to put rad cleaner in my header on my m42, while its a completely different design to a m20 header tank, it didn't work.
As there is only a small hole into the main radiator the stuff foamed up, and it was very difficult to fill up with water.
I would take the top hose off and pour it into the engine, put the hose back and fill up with water.

If the heater blows hot it's not airlocked.
Check the small hose from the top of the rad to the neck of the coolant bottle isn't blocked.

When it gete close to the red!
The centre section of the gauge is expanded - it only covers a few degrees.

On a similar theme I filled the rad and header tank on my S50 last night and started it tonight. No bleed screw that I can see.
I let it run for about 5 mins but the temp guage aint working so I shut it off. The top rad hose was hot but no heat coming from the heater. Whats the best way to bleed these?.
The car that my S50 is in now had a shot head gasket, lots of mayonaise in the water but I didnt flush out the heater matrix. will a flush solution clear this out?

Truckwash (TFR) will clear the gunk out of the cooling system.bigpimpin wrote:

I managed to airlock my M50 on none occasion when I filled it looking slightly downhill. Turning the car around shifted the airlock immediately. Don't know if this is applicable to an S50.
