I quite fancy a set for my cab but haven't a clue about keeping them clean and looking new.

Obviously it's a summer-only car and only sees rain when I get caught in it, but out of interest how does the weather affect them?

What does it cost to re-polish them if a kerb moves (I haven't touched a kerb in the cab yet but you never know )?

What maintenance would they need and is it a lot of work?

Finally what are a set of "RM" worth? I quite like these and I know they're only 15" but with a big drop I think they'll work.

I cant help much, but i remeber c76 jon saying that to keep wheels of that caliber in mint condition you have to wash them after each use!

They are a mission to keep clean mate, i had some ACT 3 piece splitties on mine when i got it and within a year they were fooked! I got quoted £700 and up to completely take them apart, refurb and put back together.

They look awesome when they are A1 but if not they start to look shit.

to keep them mint is real graft

everything marks them even water that dries on them

after every use u need to wipe wheel down to get all brake dust off as this begins to eat into the metal immediately, and i mean every time
dont do it once and you have areal mission on your hands

you need the best quality cloths to polish and remove product
if not you will put marks into finish

this is for unlacquered polished aluminium wheels
with laquer on its a different game but you dont get the mirror finish

also there are very few products that will give mint finish

in fact i use two

one that is very very slightly abrasive and one that really isnt at all

the reason is you need to get marks out but the abrasive will put fine scratches in finish and need the next one to give mirror finish

things like autosol are no good for this kind of finish they will simply put fine marks in finish

they look the bollox but they are very very hard work

Thanks for the advice, especially Jon.

I'm not lazy when it comes to keeping the car clean but it does sound a little over the top.

I'll just keep looking for some decent 16s I suppose.
