This might be a really silly question, but will any other diffs fit in my cab? the diff thats in it at the mo has a bit of a whine to it, (more so when its warm) and its getting a bit too much for me on a long drive

A friend of a friend once told me that z3's diffs are similar, (not quite sure bout that one??) so it got me thinking about what i could get hold of as a replacement... i mean, a LSD would be nice, but the only ones i've seen have been the best part of £300, and theres still no way of telling if its gonna whine/be sound until its back in the car, so ebays well out of the question
. The thing is, if there are other diffs which will fit, it opens a few more doors in the sense that ive got a better chance of getting hold of one a bit nearer to home... any help, advice would be much appreciated. Cheers, Guy.
