Would a set of wheels from a MKII Golf Fit an E30. I think i can remember once someone saying that VW and Beemer wheels were compatable. Anyone done this?

Yes, but...
Most golfs use narrower wheels with more offset, so they won't sit right without spacers. With aftermarket wheels, you need to check:
Bolt spacing (PCD) - 4x100 on golfs & E30s - if they fit one they'll fit the other.
Centre Bore (CB) - 57mm on golf and E30 - you'll get vibration issues if you use a larger CB without spigot rings.
Offset (ETXX) - ideally 25 to 15 without spacers on a 7" rim on an E30! Golfs may well use ET30 or upwards (& so would need spacers)... Different widths may need different offsets - best to ask someone who's got that width.
Rim width (XJ) - at least 7" on an E30, may well be less on a golf.
HTH!
