She's been stuttering, as you probably know..... a sort of speach impediment that you think can be cured by the BMW Doctors, for low cost, you know the type.... Got back from the people yesterday, with the news that she has a bad tumour - one of the rings are stuffed, and she's breathing through the hole!!!

I need to get my engine stripped, and have the rings replaced, along with the pistons, and its going to cost me an arm and a leg and whatever else I have to offer...... why does this happen to such a beautiful lady!!!! :x

Just buy a second hand good engine and swap it, either yourself or a competant mechanic friend.

These are old, cheap cars and unless you are doing something specific, there is no need to spend an arm or a leg!

i always try and find the positive side when things go wrong, in your case dont look at it as you have to repair your car think of it as you can now get a 3.5 or a 2.5 turbo winkeye .

sorry to here that jog, have you got the quote for the repair from the dealers or a normal on the street mechanic?
2nd engines a could be a option, but most of them are pulled out of the car and you wont be able to check the milage or if it runs....

I checked with 3 stealerships, and with a few off the street mechs, and they all came up pretty expensive. The motor I have found comes out of a 1990 325i, that had a slight front ender - got it for 500 pounds. Has 145 000 Km on the clock. Besides the front end looking slightly busted, the rest of the car looks in brilliant condition, seems it was really well looked after. When she starts purring again, I'm going to give her a good wash and wax, then post pics........
