Mine did 112mph (in 4th I think) on the rollers at 6250rpm!

You must have a looooooooong diff ratio if you're doing those kinds of speeds at 4500rpm!

Either that or my power runs were done in 3rd which might make sense as 4850rpm is about 70mph in 3rd thinking about it.

but as you say its down to the diff

and ur the second to say same tnight

damn betty shifts :D

guess i need to investigate the diff

I've just changed the engine in mine Daz to a 2.5 from a 1.8 M40.

Late 2.5 engine
2.0l manual gearbox
3.25 LSD

And mine does 120mph at 6000rpm in 4th

If you can't read the tag, as i could'nt, the only other way i know is to disconnect the prop and half shaft's, mark the output shaft, turn the input shaft one revolution and count how many time's the output shaft turn's.

Mine turned 3 1/4 turn's so that tell's me it's a 3.25 and you can feel it is as it take's a little longer to get to where you are going  but the speed's you get are fantastic :D

err summit ain't right there dazzle.

It's November since I drove that car, but i'm sure at 80 for example in 5th it was pulling 3.5K-4K revs

you sure it was in 4th?

for the knowledge i have of that car, which started life as a boggo spec 325 with keep fit windows, i have known the car for 6 years now and no diff swapping in that time, it certainly ain't a slipper either and it is pretty crusty looking and i was never able to see what numbers were stamped on it.

with that gearing/ revs you were pulling in 4th, then it must be capable of inter-galactic speeds in top :D

PS, i'll give you £500 for the car :P

The speed you mention though is just the speedo reading, this could easily be way out at high speeds.

To check the speed you need to borrow a gps devise like a road angle that shows your accurate speed.

Are you sure it's got the right coding plug in the Dash. Would the revs read only 2/3 value if a 4 pot plug was in there ?

Daz early sport? 3.64 mate

m-tech 2 sports 3.91
facelift auto - 3.64
tourings - 3.91
saloons facelift - 3.73
chrome saloon - ???
motorsport cab - 3.91
normal cabs i don't know!

3.91 screems on the m-way 3000rpm in 5th, top speed 135mph.
All about acceleration with these, i like them, some don't not too good economy diff!

3.73 more sedate 2750rpm in 5th, top speed 145mph ish
does a good job of everything. LSD's very rare in this ratio!

3.64 2500rpm in 5th, good for over 150 mph so i'm told
Nice cruising diff, bit of loss through the gears but not bad enough to piss u off imo. Very good m-way economy 30 plus

all these speeds are the same if u have an auto 2.5 aswell

Why disconnect everything? Some tipex marks in the right places and jack it up, make sure the wheels turn at the same speed, probably better turnin the prop more than once then do the maths to get a more accurate reading cos thers not a lot of difference between those ratios when the props turned by hand if you know what I mean.
