I have a rather strange problem...my E30 has never been a troublesome car, but of late it has not been starting. It will start 98% of the time, but once every so often, you turn the key, all the ignition lights come on, turn the key all the way to start her, the ignition lights dim as normally, but nothing happens. No click, nothing. Any ideas???

sticky starter motor perhaps? i've not had this problem with my car, but it did happen to an astra van i had once.... i used to put it in gear and push it forward and backwards a bit, and 9times out of 10 it would free off enough to let it do its job... how do you usually get your car started if this happens? hope i've helped, Guy.

Thanks for the advice. I have tried doing that but doesn't work. I have to run/push start the car usually, then all is fine again. This really has me boggled.

Try giving the starter motor a whack next time it does this.
Other than that, it could just be that your battery is becoming weak.
