After I changed the oil in the iS to a Duckams 10W40 semi-synth, it seems to be idling smoother and feel smoother when driving. Could this be due to the oil, or just a coincidence as ambient temperature are higher due to the good weather?
(BTW I'm not trying to promote Duckams, just stating what I used)
Can a good oil make your engine run smoother?

I'm sure the oilman will be along soon, but as oil breaks down over time, when you put new oil in, you would usually notice a difference on a not-new engine?
did that make any sense?

Makes sense, but it seems to be smoother than evein when the previous oil change was made (done every 3000 miles). Forgot to ask oilman

Yep, same with mine. Changed the years old sludge (could feel the grit in it) for Silkolene 5/40 fully synth and the engine is so much quieter, and feels stronger too.

yeah I can vouch for duckhams, put it in a rattly 1.4 corsa, made it sound sweet! same for a mondeo i bought.
I bought cheap oil few weeks back... £5.99 for 5 litres... never will again! tappier than ever (have got some castrol gtx to go in when I do the full servie or hubby does it rather)
