Yes, all comes apart easily enough.
Take the roof panel off, and unscrew a lot of small screws.
Beware of VERY sharp edges on the stainless steel bits!

right..

Ive got all that done, just the cables in the manual roof ( mine have frayed and are not even. (And the plastic block thing has snapped.. so the roof doesn't work evenly.)

If I pull the motor/winder off.. can I pull the cables thru from the outside and slide new ones in?

How do they get the cables in in the first place??

AFAIK, if the motor is removed, you will be able to pull the cables out from the roof end and feed new ones in. Not sure if I've ever pulled them right out. I think I did once to lubricate some properly.

Set them even by measurement, refit the motor, check thay are still even, then use the motor to fully close the roof. Double check the roof is in the fully closed position, then remove the motor again, use the switch to set it to fully closed, then refit the motor again.

It's actually very easy to align the cables & motor. BMW was kind enough to provide alignment marks on the mechanism. You just need a 4mm allen key as an alignment tool.

If you look on each runner, you will have a metal piece screwed down with a pin sticking out of the side (just at the back end of the flat black pieces that cover the cables). This part has a pair or raised ridges which are the alignment marks. You need to remove the motor so the cables are free to move and manually slide them so that the 4mm allen key can pass through a corresponding 4mm hole in the black plastic slider. It's correctly aligned when the allen key is between the two guide marks and in the hole. It's hard to explain, but quite obvious when it's in front of you.

Align both sides and then refit the motor. This takes all the guess work out of it and the mechanism will be spot on first time.
