Hello folks

I've got a Baur Convertible cabby with the old M3 kit on it and was looking to fit some bigger and wider wheels to it.

Anyway it hasnt taken me long to realise that the choice of original rims that will fit just right for this model of car are none existant really.

Anyway I was wondering if any e36 hubs would enable me to run 5 stud wheels in the e36 stud pattern on my e30.

I'm being lazy really as I dismantle E36's so should really take a look but I know someone on here will know straight away if this is possible!

Thanks in advance

Phil

Hi Phil,

Not as easy as that I'm afraid. E36 bearings are the wrong size for E30 stub axles.

You would really need to fit E30 M3 front strut assemblies if you want 5 stud. I believe E36 Compact rear trailing arms also fit the E30 rear subframe.

Ian.

Z3 rear arms bolt straight on, also E36 compact. - simpsons salvage near York want £125 for a pair of Z3 rear arms complete

If you want a quick way of fitting 5 stud, then M3 running gear is the way forward, otherwise you can fit the complete E36 front leg, but you will have severe caster issues to sort out.

Altho, a local BMW technician fitted E28 5 stud hubs onto his E30 kingpins a few years ago - not sure if it was a direct fit or not, but it worked - might be worth looking into winkeye

Well I've got a compact in for breaking so thats the rears sorted but the fronts typically sounds like a major spanner in the works :/

I would have thought the rear hubs would have caused the trouble not the fronts!
