Finaly got around to cleaning out the touring I bought a couple of months ago, today.
Looked like it had been owned by a plumber with a horse -the odd plumbing fitting under the seats, in the door pockets and under the spare wheel, and a considerale quantity of hay and straw in the back. Cowboy plumber?
Cleaned most of the hay and straw out when I got it, but decided to have a more thorough go today.
Took off the side pocket doors, and their contents, then decided to take out the panel that goes across the back of the load space (covering the rear lights).
As I loosened up the panel, some white powder started coming out from underneath the flap at the bottom. 'Allo I thought, what do we have here, some of Columbia's finest? This could turn out to be a very cheap touring indeed!!
As the panel came away, I caught sight of a battery, a metal box and some wires. Oh, s**t, I thought, it's booby trapped as well.
Now, with the panel right off, I could see what it was - a tracker. The white powder was from the aluminium bracket holding the miniature lead acid battery, which had corroded it, the box was the transmitter, and the wires were the antenna, going up the right hand rear pillar, and a charging supply for the battery coming down the left hand rear pillar, taking its power from the load space light.
