does anyone know if i can run a 325i engine off a 320i diff?

You can but the 320 diff will be a 4.1:1 or 4.27:1 rather than the 3.6 or 3.9 on the 325

I ran a 325i lump on a 316i diff for a while although it did break after bout 3 months.

I think the 325i ones are a bit stronger aswell as the gear ratio being different.
