Hi CHAPS , This is most common problem i know but still need some advice .I have a problem with cental locking on my M3 E30 ,i was driving along last night and suddenly doors got locked , i opend the lock manualy then i pulled in the garage, got out of the car and tried to lock the doors but all i locked was driver's door, and the fuel tank portal left itself in locked pisition ,good thing i moved the cover and pulled the safety rod wich holds the portal out of the nest and whyle driving home the dors were lockind and unlocking themselves,
so i took the cover off , sound speaker off , unscrewed two bolts , got control unit out but it was OK by the look, no burning signs or anything like that , i have spare wireing loom from coupe but it has lesss number of wires than my M3 has
My car has a rear view mirrors regulator but this set doesn't have it or
i sould get exact match?
It drains power rom the battery
Realy need advice thanks

I had the same problem last week and yes before Brian Moore shouts at me the 2 red wires had been joined ,,the central locking ecu was fine ,,the problem was corrosion in the plug on the a frame...i got a much better plug from my local scrap yard with about 5" of wires attatched ( they were both the same colours and there was abot 20 thin wires and 3 thicker) and bulleted them all. cut the old one off and connected...The main red/black I solid wired through the door so no more cenrtal locking problems and no more alarm sounding as something shorted out...the whole job took 3 1/2 hours and cost £5
