Hello everyone!

I recently moved to Italy, Rome as my job contract took me there, so I'm looking for a new car. I found this car parked with a "for sale" sticker:

Details:
BMW 320i Convertible, 1990 37k miles
Brand new roof installed
Electric windows, fog lamps,
Black leather interior, white paintjob, no visible rust
Asking price is 2750UKP.

Questions:
1. Is it worth it?
2. Anything I should ask the seller?
3. Anything to look out for?
Most important:
4. Can I mod the roof so it can be opened electronicaly?

I would pimp the car next year with upgrades, could you please link me to a shop which sells bodykits? (I also saw the e30zone shop, I'll get a few parts from there for sure!)

Cheers,
Mike

1. Seems a tad expensive compared to UK prices
2. loads!
3. rust, damp
Most important:
4. definitely no! BMW did sell a conversion kit, but i believe it was about £1400... sooooo much work it ain't worth it.

Car looks tatty in those pics, personally I'd keep on looking, unless E30's are rare in Rome???

Considering the mileage it would be a fair price if it's tidy.

It does look a little rough around the edges but it doesn't seem it'd cost a huge amount to sort this.

didn't notice the mileage!

That makes up for the price! assuming the mileage is fully documented...

The brownish stripe on the boot cover is dirt, not rust.
I'll call the guy and ask for the service history.

No aftermarket kits for the power roof? Any links to the BMW kit? (just a look-see) I'm a sucker for this function eversince I used my friends Mercedes cab with this function.

It would also be usefull in Italy, since I travel alot on a highway and then get into the city, it would be a PITA to stop and put the roof on, then stop again to take it off. Besides..it looks cool to have the roof open automaticaly winkeye

EDIT:
The car does'nt look best cause:
-my camer aint the best
-we had a sandstorm, the car looked very nice before it
Like I posted above, my plan would be to repaint the beast Navy Blue, and do a general facelift and bring back the shine.

Yes, BMW's in general are pretty rare here, and I'd take one over a Fiat anyday winkeye

Cheers,
Mike

Really wouldn't bother with a power hood. Roof can be opened in seconds.

Save the cash on removing all the chrome wrongness!!!

Thanks guys!

The dude is willing to negotiate, so if he will drop the price, I'll pick it up. He has full service history with all the bills.

Now, can you please link me to some bodykits? Like the M3 ones? And can you change the 4bolt hubs to 5bolt ones? I cant really find rims for 4bolt hubs here :(

How much extra muscle can I squeeze out of this machine without getting a turbo kit?

yeah man welcome to the 320cab club!!

dont bother spending too much money on the engine, a 325 throttle body and a chip would be the best for about 4-5hp gain, if you want anymore power then drop a 325 engine in there, best bet is to enjoy it for what it is.

it does seem expensive compared to uk pricing, I think he is asking to much for a standard cab
