well lads im confused i bought and had fitted a manual steering rack!! which is wat my 325i sport needed now ive just got back from the garage my m8s at weve done the rear subframe bushes and rear wheel bearings now thats another touchy subject lol WAT A CUNT!!!!! the rear wheel bearings are wouldnt wish it on me worst enemy.........
Anyways ive bought the rack and it seems ive only got half of the rack as at both ends you have the shafts that connect to the tie rod ends!! well the rack i bought didnt come with them shafts are they a seperate part of should they come with it?? im pissed off as ive had this rack fitted when i was busy at work one day and its totally fukked!! the shafts that come out of the rack to the tie rod end ones bent and the other has about 15mm play in the wheel causing heavy vibration tracking out , and rough driving!! im gutted as ive just done alot of work on her.... Any answers id be happy fire away brothers!!

Hi mate, sorry i could not talk earlier i was at castle combe and was about to go out on track, the rack should be A1. You may need new track arms which go onto the rack. Give me a call if you want me to order you some. Speak soon mate.

theres a guy on ebay at the moment doing non pas recon racks for £25 plus 20 charge on exchange of ur rack
may be worth a try if your not happy with the racjk you have mate
as boybimmerm3 said
you also need a pair of track rods and ends
come complete from gsf but are sold as seperate only from ecp
boots are 4quid each but only needed if yours are shot
my price above included the boots and vat etc
the locking washers youll have to get from ecp or dealers as gsf dnt sell them
hope that helps mate

Ian are you sure the play is def in the rack and not a ball joint or the track arm? If you remove the steering rack gaitors you will see a ball and socket where the track arm is fixed to the rack, make sure the play is not in there. Also check the track arms are secure to the rack and locking tabs were used. I would be suprised if that rack is at fault mate as it was as good as brand new as it had done just delivery mileage when the car was brand new and the car had a power steering conversion done, since then it has been stored in a box in my mates garage. Let me know what you find.

right had it all apart just m8 basicly all i can see is some scoring on one of the arms under where the rubber is that joins into something as a knucckle it makes a creek that side of the car which is the same side that the arm is bent on!! ummm i cant see much other movement but the passenger side wheel has a good 10 mm play in it for sure!! its strange the racks definatly a good one i know m8 im just so confused now as ive changed everything and checked everything and i mean checked for ages on the ramp yesterday!! does this sound like the steering arms are fukked or am i wrong!! the car points in all different directions and wobble at anything over 50mph
not good at all.... i want to sort it asap; though so fire away men!!
