Steering rack E30 or E36??

Looks like my steering rack has given up and needs replacing.
I heard some people were doing the E36 steering rack as a replacement!!
ANY GOOD?
I not very mechanical minded :roll: , is much harder than replacing the original?
Any tips received with thanks.

It's by no means a direct replacement, and needs special parts made up, but it's not difficult when you've got the bits.
