Clutch Reservoir Hose

The hose that runs from the clutch master cylinder to the clutch fluid reservoir has perished and is very soft on my 318i. What hose can one replace it with, would normal brake hose be fine or does it need to be a special hose as it gets rather hot being right by the exhaust manifold. How do you remove/disconnect it from the clutch master cylinder to replace it?

Never heard of this hose failing before!
Brake hose is far too small an internal diameter for the job. What's wrong with getting the correct hose from BMW?
Part no. 21 52 1 163 714.
Just pushes on at both ends, IIRC. Definitely does at the resevoir end, not so sure about the cylinder end.

Definetly pushes on at the reservoir end. Sorry mate just checked, haven't actually got the hose as I thought.

I dunno what the original hose looks like - it looks like the previous owner of this car just used fuel hose - and now it is perishing in a big way - my clutch fluid is always dirty- even after a flushing of the fluid. So I guess the best bet is going to be to get the part from BMW directly.

It's normally just a bit of nylon braided rubber hose.
