Hi

My OBC has gone very dim. I think the bulbs have gone.
You can just about see then during the day, but at night nothing
Its seems to be working fine.

How do I replace them?

Do I have to take the OBC unit out and then open it up and replace the bulbs?

Can anyone point me in the right direction!!! :(

If its the buttons their a bulb unit on the back of the OBC if its the lcd panel, u need to go to bmw and get a new lighting strip, it just slots in the side

when i fited my stereo i took the OBC out (takes 2 secs to remove) and i threw it on the dash,
i think because i drove to my mates to fit the stereo, the bulbs blew when they hit the dash.
they are really small, like xmas tree style.
remove the OBC, turn it over, get some long nose pliers and undo them. only about half a turn and they come out.

the originals are soldered to the metal blades, just break that off and re-use the blades if ur new bulbs dont have blades. u will see what i mean when u take them apart.
when i put mine in i thought i would get the odd flicker over bumps, but its like brand new.
them bulbs would cost about £1 from a motorfactors. probably less than that. i cant give u a 100% price cos friend got them from work :D

If its the 6 button OBC:
Remove OBC twist bulbs from rear, remove and replace
If 13 button OBC:
There is a light bar that goes in from the side with 2 bulbs soldered onto it.
You can either, go to bmw and pay about £20 for a new light bar, or, go to maplins and spend 35p on 2 new bulbs and solder then in your self (thats what I did).
