Right then, im in need of advice here, ive just seen a really nice mtech 325i sport at a good price, with 120K, FSH, LSD, Black leather etc etc in lachs silver and im wondering whether to go for it.

Problem is at the moment ive got a 4dr 325i with just 72K on it with FSH, black comfort leather, alpina s/wheel and tech 1 kit, and ive genreally put quite a bit of work into in the past 10 months, infact there are a pair of tech 1 side skirts, spoiler, and front valance being re-sprayed at the moment. Bad points are that the paint is fading (zinnobar red), needs a tiny bit of rust treatment on the offside rear arch and on the rear quarter lights.

I dont know whether its is worth switching really, I would love to keep both but im only 19 so would be impossible really. I just like the idea of a 2dr not in red (only ever had red cars) plus its 2dr, LSD, sports box mtech suspension - all things I was considering doing on my car.

Any opinions are welcome - is the sport that good? Would you change from a car with under 72k (genuine) on it?

Cheers

The sport is an investment and you'll defo enjoy it more. They looks very nice and chunky aswell + you get lots of very desirable extras likethe short ratio gearbox and the diff. I think the gearbox ratios are much better on a sport, especially 2nd to third.

Mileage isnt really an issue on these cars as long as its maintained.

I would say 100% go for the sport.

difficult one!

do you change from a car you know, and maintain to your standards, to something that could be a bag of problems?

Personally i'm not a big fan of sports as I feel you dont get good value for the extra cash you shell out, so I wouldnt buy it. However i'm sure a sorted sport is a very serious bit of kit :D (no "sport or not" arguements please-i'm merely making a point about pricing IN MY OPINION)

Moreover-will a 2 door be as practical as the 4door for everyday use?do you often travel 4 or 5 up?

Yeah, gonna test drive it tomorrow, probably the only way to tell for sure if its a worthwhile buy. It is a damn good price, and there are no problems in terms of practicallity, its just changing from an engine as good as mine to one i dont know which bugs me.

Its up for under a grand, apparently has a bubble of rust on the underside of one door, and a bubble underneath the windscreen - which I understand is a bit of a bitch?

if you like what you've got, stick with it. uprate the suspension, and definately get an LSD under it. Sports? pah, money for nothing

it's probably just rotten old shit anyway

besides, red cars are always faster

Sounds like a bit of a nail dude, would probably advise you to steer clear until you can afford a decent one. Stick with what you know (And whack an LSD on it....)

Wow - I can quite safely say ive never seen such a dog of a car!! A true heap - a tosser trader as well, just to boot! Maybe I will get a nice sport in summer, but it really has made me appreciate how good my car is, so wasn't a total waste of time.
