Ok, I know there r must be loads of these threads about, but I was wondering whats ur guys favorite 17" wheels on and E30 ? . Reason being, is that I'm having problems sourcing tyres here in South Africa, for my Borbet A's.

So far the only ones that I've really liked r the Azev A's ... but there is no dish on them, and I'm a sucker for some dish.

I'm actually getting so pissed off, that I'm thinkin of doing the 5 hole conversion, just so that I can have a decent selection of wheels.

Oh, and I don't like Alpina Copies... only the originals, and we all know they only 16" in 4 hole

Hey mate, i have given up on finding wheels for my car, after taking to alot of people i decided that 16" wheels would be the best, but i have looked everywhere for them and its always a dead end. I know if i had the cash i could be able to import some ( well when i win the Lotto). I then decided a nice wide 15" wheel with a lip. Same problem, everyone only had 15x6 or 6.5 no 7 or 7.5. I also had the usual crap about offsets, adaptors etc. (i dont like the idea of those things). Then it was the tyres (dont get me started). In the end those old 14" bottle tops were startng to look pretty good winkeye . In the end i found a set of 17" Alpina reps with a 20 offset. I snapped them up and they are in my room at the mo. cant wait to install them (once i get my car back from the panel beaters). Shes gonna look sweet. Well thats my whole sad story. Good luck and PM me if u need any help etc.
cheers

Cool man... I don't really like the Alpina Reps, just cause every singe, E30, golf, Toyota, Renault Caravelle... what ever has them on the car.

I was thinkin of a set of TSW Heat wheels... but not sure what they will look like, but hey they 17"

I think I'm gonna go and speak 2 Redwaan at Wheel Nutz, and see what he can organise for me... Maybe he can get me a set of Azev A's cheaper than if I import them myself

RH Topline's come in 4 or 5 stud and are lipped/dished.

They are the daddies if you can get them but must be the old school ones not the new shite!

Any pics ? of these Toplines ?

Hyperion I do have Borbet Type A's , but I can't find tyres for them... not in the right size anyways... no 225 45, and it's hard enough 2 find 205 50 ..

The Azev A can be purchased with upto a 10inch rim and anything larger than a 6inch will have a slight lip. My 7.5 x 17's have about a 1 inch lip and they're just wide enough to fill the arches. You'll need 205/40 tires to stop any rubbing on the inner arch, so I doubt much wider could be achieved with a 40mm drop.

Having owned 16inch Hartge before the 1st set of Azevs I'd happily say 16's are a better compromise all round.

Borbets and Keskins are also suit the e30 very well.

HTH, Mark.
