Exhaust flexi pipes.
Moderator: martauto
Have a 325 for track day abuse. My exhaust is standard bmw, but with the middle box cut out, so it runs from the manifold, straight through to the back box. What keeps happening though is the downpipes keep splitting because of the engine vibration. Has anyone ever fitted flexi pipes (like diesels have) to overcome this problem, as its all i can think of to cure it!! Thanks.

When this happens on a track car in the US we cut out a section after the down pipe and add a piece of braided flex pipe this puts a lot less stress on the down pipe because it no longer carrys the weight of the exaust. if you have a lot of engine movment check you motor mounts they could be broken this could be the cause
best of luck
