just found that when i do the water squirt on the windows all the water just runs in to the engine bay!

the reason, the little whit 'Y' spliter had split! so i tryd a spare i got from the scrapper and it was also split  , so i shut the bonnet and decided to order one tomorrow then i saw my sister messing about with the air pump thing on her fish tank, it had a Y spliter in it :D and it was to fit the same size pipe. :D

zzuuyynnkk and it fitted fine apperantly there about 5p each and come in a range of sizes, i dont know if the bmw spliter did enyfing other than split the feed but this works spot on!! just thought it might help some one out. :D

i think it may have had a one way valve in so that the water stays there (rather than having to pump all the up the pipe everytime) although i'm not 100% on this

correct.

Also acts as a regulator to spray 2 "jets" rather than just a spray.

the most common cause of failure of this piece is a splt rubber piece. (the rubber is inside BTW)

there are a very common failier. the original ones are made so they keep the water at the end of the pipe as was said above. With cars with headlight washers they have i white 'no return' valve but when there broken they leak contant and empty the resovior(its to late to spell proper)
