Got my eye on an engine and box from a 1994 UK E36 325i. It's an iron block, so it's an M50?.
Can anyone confirm that there's none of this EWS rubbish on this, as the engine will be removed from the Cat B wreck for me and placed on a pallet. By the time I'm informed it's, ready the shell will have been crushed, complete with EWS box if there is one.

Brian,

In theory at least, it should not have EWS fitted.

I'm not sure about the 325i, but some of the very late 1994 E36 M3's (last of the 3.0L cars) did get EWS, so I guess it could be possible. Unlikely, but possible..

Ian.

Thanks for the reply and I think you're right Ian. I've got the VIN of the car and fed that into the ETK.
Gives the build date as Dec 93, and searching through engine electrics shows no sign of any EWS stuff.

Brian,

It it was built at the back end of 93, then you will be fine. It's only cars that were built close to the 95 changeover that could possibly have it.

Cheers,

Ian.
