I spent today replaceing the sump gasket on the 320 and giving the rest of the engine a good check over with a set of plugs for good measure 8)

Also replaced the fuel pump which died while putting the car onto the ramp at work.. well timed demise or what winkeye

While i was doing all this my mate tom was removeing the rusty front wings and front vallance, suprised to see that the inner wings are relativly rust free and it will only need 3 patches welding in.... thats for next weekend winkeye

Will add some pics on monday, theres lots to do to this car but i think she's worth saveing from the old tinworm

It will need a full respray after all the rust is bannished and for some reason i am leaning towards a flat colour..... possibly black, but want it to be a BMW colour....... any recomendations??

Has to be Diamond Black if that's the case - defiantly the best Black in the range.

Well done for under taking this project, it good to hear another Zoner has taken the path of restore rather than destroy - i was beginning to think i was the only one!!

Looking forward to the pics as well - may be this will tempt others into restoring.

Neil.

I dont think your mad mate, its what you wanna do that matters not what anyone else thinks. If its worth it to you then b@ll@cks to all the doubters mate, although I'm sure there'll be a few moaners who go on about the fact its not a 325 :bla: . But I think fair play to you mate, keep us posted on the progress and keep the picys coming. Good luck :thumb:

Nah widge i am not really after leather..... (budget = 0 at the moment) cheers for asking though

Am going to concentrate on the free-ish stuff for now like any welding that needs doing 8)

found some wings from a company 10 mins from where i work (and where the car is stored) and they are Ԛ£32 delivered within half an hour.. guy said ''perfect fit or i will exchange them''...... that will do for me winkeye

bodypart i think the company name is.... or theres another company called beevers :P

Grantley.... too right mate i am not worried about it ''only'' being a 320 its got the sweetest engine and box and is by far the quickest of the 320's i test drove too, don't ask me why it must just be a 'good un'

and if i ever do get bored with the performance i can always 2.7 it with a nice LSD.... then teach myself how to drift... although those fate o tyres help it slide nicely as it is winkeye

beardymatt is in sheffield Daz and works in a body shop, he'll either be able to do you a quote or tell you who will do the work.

a guy round the corner is doing mine, its adams autos in upton, as for cost ive not even asked yet will find out tomorow when i drop the car off. He's a fair guy and does my welding he charged me Ԛ£40 to cut out a rotten jacking point and weld in new one which for the amount of work done seemed reasonable to me.

Def not mad, or that makes two of us.
Bought E30 M3 Diamond-S-black in Oct. Only out since then for the ocasional run to keep going. Started to to rebuild 2 weeks ago but will take time as a limited budget also. Only rebuilt boot and the interior a little at present. Had no boot fittings at all. Def a long term project.
It's god to hear other peoples rebuild experiences could help point me in the right direction when it comes to the body work etc. Luckily engine solid. No major expense their.
Would like to here how your restoration will continue.
regards

I am teaching myself to weld using works gasless mig welder (not a stick welder thank god), its a saturday morning thing for me and my mate tom to get stuck into, he's only just 17 but his mini that he restored and painted himself won its class at the graves park car show last year 8)

he will be teaching me how to prep the car for spraying, decided on a gloss black....... did BMW do 1?
