im not sure whether i read this on this forum, but im worried about my s14 - i heard it rattle quite badly once, and thought nothing of it.
I read a post saying that many of the bottom end failures were due to certain bolts loosening and ending up in the sump. Anyone heard of this? also, is the hole the sump nut leaves big enough to pull these bolts out? im going to drain my oil and check just in case. Heard this is a common reason for bottom end failure on 4 cylinder bmws.
Anyone?
cheers,
adil

This happens with M40 engines, nothing unusual about finding an odd bolt partly blocking the sump drain hole during an oil change.adil325i wrote:any views/ experiences?
I've no knowledge as to whether the same sort of thing happens to a M10 or S14, although they don't have the internal sump bolts of the M40.
