I had to delete my facebook profile and set up a new one recently (I lost access to marketplace because I searched for games for a Sega Megadrive - don't try it!)

Anyway - since setting up my new profile - the zone group doesn't come up in any searches? Is it gone? Or just fully private?

It is still there but has gone private and not visible. Lot of groups have had to do this because of the incessant amount of bots and scammers on any open group.

Sent you a PM too :thumb:

I remember when FB groups started to become a thing. I asked on this forum if there was one and was shot down for it. All these years later I'm firmly in the camp of despising facebook groups :D

I hate them too to be totally honest - but unfortunately it sees more traffic than here, and can be useful for bits being sold or needed.

Sometimes with the tripe on those groups the low traffic isn’t a bad thing however it is a shame people just don’t put the effort in anymore with forum posts. It’s often too much like hard work to upload photos and have the manual write about something. With that though is a huge loss of information, a shame really.

It a ballache alright - especially since most of the photo hosting sites have gone, or made life difficult for people. I have my own hosting, so its handy enough - but otherwise its messy enough.

That becomes a vicious circle - I've posted updates and theres just tumbleweed, which makes me less inclined to post any further updates and so on. Forums live and die by their user base.

I think one of the problems is some, could be many, have difficulty with the site. Whether it is password reset or photo adding, there is someone on the FB group now saying he can't get the Zone to work, it keeps timing out.

I still can't navigate back to the home page while logged in as it kicks me out to a wordpress page. I have ways around it but that shouldn't happen and unfortunately, these days people just go elsewhere. I could understand putting a limit on image numbers per message or post when traffic was higher but now not so much.

Forums are a huge repository for information and lessons learned that FaceAche will never be, that's why the same questions get asked over and over. Problem is the fact all the links were broken when the Zone was updated makes following old threads impossible at times.

Even forums that work well have seen traffic drop to near zero, and it is unfortunate that even people who are admin on here and current E30 owners, post on FB and not here. It was never going to maintain the boost everything got over lockdowns but it is sad to see things drop off like they have.

Well I do keep asking Steve about problems on the site but dont seem to get any answers.
I will try again and also talk to Ian sometime in the week to see if he can help.

I'm glad I joined during the Zone heyday.. got so many good parts, and met a lot of characters. If you had any issues with the car someone would reply within minutes with solutions. Plus every night was like an episode of Eastenders on here.. You make a post these days and very rarely do you get any interaction or response.. I wonder how M3cutters etc. keep it going.
