Quick CAT Question

I know this is prob a n00b question but does my 87' D reg 325i need a cat.. The exhaust is already blowing and a straight through pipe would be a much cheaper option, although loud

Cars from 93 require a Cat, earlier than that and it's not a requirement.

i doubt very much that it will have a cat on there right now anyway, unless its an import from america, or a country strict on emissions.
old 70's v8,s from america normally had cats.
(i ran a company called longlife exhausts for 2.5 years, 325's are a bitch to do. lol)
