I have the same problem with brake lights, the light is on when I start the car. I press the brakes and it goes away... I was just wondering if there was a simple solution as it's only a drift shitter.

It's supposed to be on when you start the car!!
It can't test the brake lamps untill you use them.

Check that the bulbs are the correct wattage and are of a decent make. Change them for good quality ones if you are not sure.
Thump the back panel of the car with the lights on. They only have to flicker to turn the LED on intill you reset by turning the ignition off.

Faulty reed switch isn't immpossible, or a failty check panel, but I still would be surprised if the problem isn't bulb or connection related.
Would be interesting to temporarily put a 10W bulb (from an interior lamp) in one of the number plate lamp holders.

Reed switch asssembly is in the boot on the left hand side behind the boot liner, roughly level with the back of the wheelarch.
