From what i have seen this is something that is all too easy to spend time and money on and still end up with something that looks like an amateurish dogs dinner.
The ready made unit in the so-called Redux M3 looks tidy enough but not really in keeping and adds nothing to the car IMHO
There is a guy in South Wales that does them professionally, I like the cars he has done and the way they come out looking OEM. He gets trusted with some high-end stuff but obviously that can run to high end money.
Much easier and cheaper by far to get the original dash working.
Also be aware that the speedo is likely to be the last foot of wire at the diff end or the sensor so it would still drop out if you had the fanciest digital dash going.
Bentley and older Haynes manuals have good wiring diagrams and there are various bits of manuals out on the net, have a search for Brianmoore posts about wiring diagrams. (some of them were .RU so may not be working given the obvious)

it has been done before i know that much but can't remember who it was but i'm sure it was a member on here,
it's something i've been looking into myself,
as said above you could endless amounts on the gauges & still end up in the same situation as before,
if i was to do this i would want to change as much of the original wiring as possible.
i'm going to have a look at a mates mk2 escort rally car in the next few weeks as he did it to that car, wasn't cheap or easy but it does look good, i'll see what he used & how he went about it.

if it's got t*ts or wheels it's bound to be trouble...............prove me wrong.

For most of the gauges I would try to put new wires except for fuel, as for the speedo I am tempted to put a GPS speedo in

So I have sussed out there is 3 plugs on back of cluster, white green and blue could anybody help me cross reference the wires I have a pinout but it doesn't tell me the colours, I don't have a close up of the plugs so can't see what wires come in and what colour they are, I also have the wiring diagram but this doesn't say which plugs they are for
