I have a buddy with a head off another M20 that ran perfect before it was pulled, motor was pulled for an S52 swap. it's best to get it skimmed just to be sure & on the safe side, the 885 head is getting rare now.
if it's got t*ts or wheels it's bound to be trouble...............prove me wrong.
getting oral sex off an ugly person is like rock climbing.....don't look down ;)

As above I would get it looked at and checked properly. A clean up skim is a good idea but it depends on how much has been taken off before. There are divots on the head that should still be showing otherwise you may get valve clearance problems especially if it is not a standard cam. You may not have the depth to loose.

Pressure test is a good idea on 885 heads before you waste time on the swap.

Have you thought of a new AMC head?
