Hi
I’ve got a 1990 325i sport that has air from new, it still kicks in but doesn’t get cold. I took it to a friend who owns a garage who said the gas for it is now illegal and no longer available? Can anyone offer any help on this or possible cost on a conversion ? And or would you guys convert is if possible as it will no longer be original ?
Any help or advice is always greatly received !

There's a thread on this just below yours on the home page! You need to convert to R134a as the R12 gas is NLA. No problems here regarding originality I wouldn't think, a converted and working AC system is more desirable than original and not working.

As for originality I agree with Cloggy above, get it working. BMW did an official conversion kit for the E30 (unfortunately NLA) but the bits are available separately.

There is some discussion about the type of condenser to run with the R134a but the original one should run OK if everything else is done
